In the fall of 2023, we informed you about the situation of nomadic communities in Changtang, India, in an article on our blog. Thanks to your donations, we were able to purchase 204 goats for 34 of the most needy families from 8 nomadic camps in the Indian Himalayas. And thanks to this, they can continue their traditional life!
Nomads live high in the mountains at altitudes above 4,500 m above sea level in unimaginably harsh conditions, and everything they own fits into one tent. In order to survive, they also need a herd of goats and sheep in front of the tent. However, the number of goats in one herd must not fall below the critical limit of about 30. Herds are their life. They give them wool, milk, and heating for the winter. Thanks to you, we have supported the most needy nomadic families, who can thus remain in the mountains, where they belong. We experienced the gratitude and humility of these people firsthand this summer when we met them in their villages high in the Himalayas. Thank you to all of you who are participating in the project and making a difference in the lives of these peace-loving people.
