Anyone who wants to donate 250 EUR a year (0.7 EUR a day) to a particular child or an adult can participate in this project. This project focuses on improving the living conditions of individual children, and the elderly Tibetan refugees who need our help most. Since 2006 we have regularly assisted 550 people in the Indian Himalayas in the Sponsorship project. In 2016, we provided food, medicine, clothing and school supplies. Tibetan children in exile, Tibetan and Indian monks, including small monks, were provided training in their native language.
We help those who need it the most!
The Sponsorship project helps Tibetan children living in Tibet, but also Tibetan children who wanted to get education in India. In Tibet, we help the poorest children, who attend the first grade at the Gyalten School in the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture Kardze. In India, we collaborate with the SOS village Tibetan Homes Foundation, which has more than 2 500 children. It was founded in 1962 by HH the Dalai Lama for children refugees. Through our Project, 158 of these children have been able to get good education. And also with TCV Dharamsala. We provided clothes; food and medical care for them.
Small monks and nuns
Since 2006, we have been improving living conditions and quality of education for 182 young monks and nuns in seven convent schools in northern and southern India. During the school year the monks can learn traditional subjects such as Tibetan, Tibetan grammar, Buddhist rituals, but also modern subjects such as English, biology or mathematics.
In this project, we are helping Tibetan seniors who live in exile villages in northern India. They fled to India in the sixties of the 20th century along with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Today, unfortunately, they live destitute and often without families. In sponsorship project is now more than a hundred grandmothers and grandfathers and we enable them to buy basic food, medicine and clothing needed for winter.

Alena and her journey to India
Why have you chosen MOST?
I was attracted by your efforts to help elderly people too. I liked this intention, it appealed to me.
Have you met people you are helping?
Yes, the meeting was great. There was a language barrier, but we were close to each other as human beings and needed no words. And importantly, the people have become real, real friends, a part of my life.
What would you like to tell to someone who wants to join MOST’S Sponsorship Program?
There is never enough help. It is necessary always and everywhere! As for myself, I can say that I have never regretted joining the Sponsorship Program. I feel that it has made my life more valuable.
From an interview with Alena, who helps an elderly man named Jamyang and two women through MOST’s Sponsorship Program.
