At the end of March culminated 16th ProTibet Festival in the Czech Republic. We are very happy that so many places joined the Festival and we could organize so many activities for support of Tibetan issue. This years Festival edition is dedicated to Himalayan nuns and the profit will pop up to support their education.
During the Festival the visitors had a chance to see lot of interesting events. The main guest of the Festival was a Buddhist monk Pema Samdup, there were several lectures (eg. Hoaxes about Tibet), actors were reading Tibetan fairy tales, people could see an interesting movies or creation of mandala.
The schools were also participating, the students saw the movie “The Unwinking Gaze” and several exhibitions.
The main guest of this year’s ProTibet Festival was the Buddhist monk Pema Samdup, who arrived in the Czech Republic from the Spiti Valley in Northern India. Pema created the sand mandala, at the National Gallery in Prague and in Olomouc. The Mandala had a positive response from visitors. Pema spend one month in the Czech Republic, so he had the opportunity to meet people from several regions of the Czech Republic during his lectures. He talked not only about Buddhism and life in the monastery, but also about the project of the nunnery in Kowang.
Finally, we would like to thank all visitors, institutions and organizations that have actively participated in the organization of the Festival in their cities, also to partners and volunteers. We are very pleased with their engagement, ideas and enthusiasm.
